On Sunday, 15 September 2019, Israel Bonds recognised Fania Wedro as our Western Canadian 2019 Golda Meir Leadership Award Recipient. This Award is the highest honour presented by Israel Bonds to outstanding women who have distinguished themselves in support of Israel and demonstrated this with dedication, hard work and an enduring connection with the State of Israel.

We thank the afternoon’s hosts, Helmi and Ron Switzer, who opened their home for this celebration on a beautiful fall afternoon in Calgary. Approximately 50 guests; family, friends and peers celebrated together with our Honouree. Also recognised were 14 recipients of Israel Bonds Women’s Division Honour Pins. The guests enjoyed a traditional high tea and heard Fania Wedro share the history of her long connection with Israel Bonds.

Thanks also to Brenda Sapoznikow, Nessie Hollander and Wendy Kennelly who worked on our Special Events Committee to ensure a successful event.

Raquel Benzacar Savatti, the CEO for Israel Bonds in Canada, flew in from Toronto to pay tribute to Fania. “This beautiful event shows us that one of the most empowering and fulfilling ways to advocate for Israel’s continued success is by holding an Israel bond.
